COPE

COPE is the acronym that stands for the Committee on Political Education.

The COPE Committee’s main responsibility is to inform and educate the members of Local 22 concerning the issues that directly affect their working lives.

Activities of the COPE committee are many:

Attending political functions

Candidate fundraisers

County Central Committee meetings

State caucuses

County Conventions

State Conventions

Voter Registration and Turnout

Informational mailings

Fund raising

Candidate review and endorsements

Poll Duty

Campaign Signs

 

Issues that effect our working lives are:

Local Issues - State Legislative decisions, City Council decisions,

School Board decisions, etc.

On the Federal level:

Davis/Bacon

Minimum Wage laws (Local and Federal)

National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)

Public Service Employment Act (PSEA)

Social Security reform

Pension Law reform

Tax reform
