IBEW Local No. 22 Referral Procedure Rules (For Registering or Re-registering)
1. (a) Initial applicant registration must be made Monday through Friday during normal business hours of the Local Union Referral Hall – 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
(b) All applicants registering for the first time will complete and sign an application form, and they will be placed in the highest group for which they qualify.
(c) The registration of all applicants shall be completed under the supervision of the Local Union Business Manager or his designee.
(d) All applicants whether registering or re-registering shall provide the Business Manager with all information as may be requested on the applicants appropriate group sign-in sheet.
2. Re-sign period is the last five (5) working days of each month. Anyone not re- signed during this period will be removed from the out-of-work list. Re-sign may be accomplished by mail to 8946 L Street, Omaha, NE 68127, by fax at 402-331-0836, by e-mail at 22@ibew22.org or in person. Again, your choice of re-sign must be received by Local 22 during the last five working days of the month.
3. In the event an employee is terminated because of reduction of force, having worked less than fourteen (14) calendar days an applicant shall retain his/her appropriate place in the registration book. However, if a workman quits or is fired for just cause, he/she shall lose his/her position on the book and must re-register.
4. If an applicant becomes ill, injured, on jury duty, FLMA or military leave and can be documented by physician or government officials while registered on the out-of-work list and so notifies the Business Manager, he/she will maintain his/her place on the list as long as he/she is covered by proper documentation verifying his/her inability to be employed. 5. A night recorder will be used from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. to list any and all jobs to be referred the following business day. Job information may be obtained by calling 402-331-8452. 6. Referral of jobs available will start at 8:30 a.m. This is a day book system. You must be present to take a referral. Jobs not filled will be open until filled.
7. The first twent-five (25) names on the out-of-work list (no matter which group) being unavailable for referral when work would have been offered to the registrant shall be considered a turn-down. Rejection of the applicant by an employer is not a turn-down.
8. Registrants will be allowed two turn-downs without penalty and be rolled to the bottom of their approprite book after a third turn-down. 9. Specialty calls (i.e., service truck, cable splicer, welder...) will not count towards a turn-down.
